Ascension : QueenAtlantis: New AIG Launch Name
Submitted by The Islander (Juanita Brock) 14.01.2006 (Article Archived on 28.01.2006)

Lawson Henry tells us some good news for Ascension Island.

QUEEN ATLANTIS: NEW AIG LAUNCH NAME

By Cllr. Lawson Henry (AIG)

On Thursday 5th January a name for the launch was chosen from the 51 entries received through the School. The launch will be named “QUEEN ATLANTIS”.

Congratulations to Laura Stroud of Two Boats (who is currently on St Helena) who submitted this name. Laura will receive a cash prize on her return.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the children who submitted entries for this competition, there were some very imaginative names, making it quite difficult for the judges to choose. Thanks also to the School for allowing the competition to take place and finally to the judges for giving up their time to choose the winning entry.

Details of the formal naming and launching ceremony will be announced shortly.
