Falklands : Police and Court News (01/09/06)

Sgt. Dave Roberts of the Royal Falkland Islands Police updates us on the latest police and court activity.

POLICE AND COURT NEWS:

At 1527hrs on Thursday, 05 January 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a report of a single vehicle road traffic accident on Jersey Road when the vehicle reversed into a fence.  Minor damage was caused and the owners of the fence and vehicles are sorting out the details.


 


At1509hrs on Friday, 06 January 1006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a report of a request for medical assistance at a yacht in Stanley Harbour.  The medical services were tasked to deal with a person with a broken leg and for transport to the KEMH for treatment.


 


At 1511hrs on Saturday, 07 January 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a report of cattle in a minefield at the junction of the Stanley to Darwin Road and the Mount Kent Turn-off.  The matter was dealt with by the EOD.


 


At 1529hrs on Saturday, 07 January 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a report of a man staggering on Jeremy Moore Avenue.  Officers and a medical team attended and the man was taken away in an ambulance.


 


COURT NEWS


 


In Open Court before Magistrates Mr. Dick Sawle, Mrs. Marlene Short and Mr. Terry Spruce, Mr Toby Raymond Poole pled guilty to a charge that he, on 25 December 2005 did operate a motor vehicle while over the prescribed limit, contrary to (section 21(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Ordinance 1948.  Mr. Poole was disqualified from driving for one year and fined £350.00 with £70.00 Court costs.
