POLICE NEWS

Over the holiday period there were two incidents of people walking along the beach at Yorke Bay. One incident happened at 1612 hrs on Wednesday, 28 December 2005 when three people were spotted on the beach and at 1854 hrs when two people were spotted walking in the same area.
Both groups of people came off yachts and were not local people.
Though Yorke Bay is not a minefield, it is a restricted area where mines from adjacent minefields could wash up. Indeed, some mines that have been washed from those minefields have been spotted in the water near the shore.
OOOOOOO
In both cases the people had been found and warned. However, police would like to warn anyone that walking along Yorke Bay is just as dangerous as walking through a minefield, so keep off.
