Sad End For A Well Known Vessel

Charles Edmond took this photo in October 2000 from the clipper Odyssey on an expedition covering Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and the Vanuatu Group.  The vessel was run aground when she was holed.  It was hoped that she could be re-floated and refitted but terrorists from the area prevented the salvage crew from coming aboard and the World Discoverer was subsequently stripped bare of all onboard.  Charles and Fay Edmond had travelled eight times on the World Discoverer and the vessel was a familiar site in the South Atlantic.
