Visit of Personnel from DFID

A two person team from the Department for International Development will be on Island from 6 to 14 June.

The team comprises Ajay Sharma, Economic Advisor, and Sarah Holloway, Governance Advisor. The purpose of the visit is essentially for the team to discuss financial management, forecasting and planning issues with SHG. These discussions will be in relation to finances St Helena receives from the Department for International Development.

This will be the first visit to St Helena for the members of the team although other personnel from the Department for International Development have visited the Island in the past to undertake similar discussions.

Arriving on 27 June will be Nigel Kirby, the Overseas Territories Departments Engineering Advisor. He is also from the Department for International Development and has visited St Helena in the past. He is returning to review the progress being made on current infrastructure projects and to discuss and agree plans of action to address any outstanding issues.

During his stay he will work closely with Government officers on a number of DIFD related project including those dealing with energy, waste management, disaster management and wharf development. He will remain on Island until 4 July.
