FIG TO ASSESS ASBESTOS IN ITS BUILDINGS
By J. Brock (FINN)
A team of assessors will be visiting the Falklands beginning on Tuesday, 29 November 2005 to identify the Asbestos threat in government and private buildings. The risk appraisals and the team of assessors come at the invitation of the Public Works Department, who are keen to assess government and private buildings throughout the Falklands and to that end, the settlements of Goose Green, North Arm and Fox Bay Village will be visited and assessed.
Arrangements will be made for private companies and individuals to have their property assessed for Asbestos in the building materials that are present in structures they own. Costs of private assessment, however, will be borne by the company or individual(s) concerned.
The Public Works Department would like to know of anyone who is concerned about Asbestos. They can contact George Burroughs, the Maintenance Manager, on phone 27178 for further information.
