There are plenty of Candidates to choose from in this November's elections.
CANDIDATES FOR ELECTION IN THE FALKLANDS ANNOUNCED

It has baan announced that in accordance with section 70 of the Electoral Ordinance, the Deputy Returning Officer, Mr. John Rowland, gave notice that a poll will be taken on Thursday, 17 November 2005 at the Town Hall Stanley for the election of five Members to the Legislative Council for the Stanley Constituency. A mobile polling unit will visit the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and Jack Hayward Housing, Stanley on the 17th of November 2005 at a time to be fixed.
Candidates who have been nominated and are standing for election for the Stanley Constituency are as follows:
John Birmingham of 4 Drury Street, Stanley: He was proposed by Rhoda Margaret McBain and was seconded by Martin Cant. Mr. Birmingham’s supporters are Marie Ferguson, Frances Biggs, Leslie Biggs and Stacy Bragger.
Jan Cheek of 35 Ross Road East, Stanley: She was proposed by Rose Ann Shirley Hirtle and seconded by Sharon Halford. Her supporters are Alex Olmedo, Betty Biggs, Stephen Luxton and Leona Roberts.
Andrea Clausen of 3 St. Mary’s Walk, Stanley: She was proposed by Cheryl Roberts and seconded by Morgan Goss. Her supporters are John Barton, Grant Munro, Sarah Clement and Janet Robertson.
Richard Cockwell of Stanley: He was proposed by Terrance Spruce and seconded by Joan Spruce. His supporters are Mark Spruce, Thomas Blake, Glenda McGill and Colin Petterson-Smith.
Richard Davies of 4 Fitzroy Road East, Stanley: He was proposed by Nancy Poole and seconded by Derek Clarke. His supporters are Jane Cameron, Neville Hayward, Richard Sawle and Glyndwr Valler.
Mike Forrest of Stanley: He was proposed by David Lewis and seconded by Richard Biggs. His supporters are Colin Smith, Ian Bury, Rose Jaffray and Jenny Forrest.
John Fowler of 9 Philomel Street, Stanley: He was proposed by Frances Biggs and seconded by Gary Clement. His supporters are Adam Cockwell, Veronica Fowler Phillippa Lang and June McMullen.
Eric Goss of Stanley: He was proposed by Eugene Williams and seconded by Tony Carey. His supporters are Hayley Bonner, Dave Eynon, Carol Eynon and Keith Reddick.
Philip Middleton of 5 St. Mary’s Walk, Stanley: He was proposed by Anton Livermore and seconded by Joan Spruce. His supporters are Les Harris, Jane Cotter, Richard Short and Gordon Ewing.
Kevin Ormond of Stanley: He was proposed by Don Bonner and seconded by Gary Webb. His supporters are Celia Short, Dennis Bolt, Stephanie Ferguson and Andrea Ross.
Janet Robertson of Stanley: She was proposed by Jane Cameron and seconded by John Allan. Her supporters are Lucy Ellis, Gordon Liddle, Paul Brickle and Grant Munro
Mike Summers of Stanley: He was proposed by Deborah Summers and seconded by Barry Neilson. His supporters are Sarah Clement, Jaqui Summers, Gary Hewitt and Christopher Gilbert.
IAW section 70 of the Electoral Ordinance the Deputy Returning Officer Mr. John Rowland gave notice that a poll would be taken on Thursday, 17 November 2005 at Goose Green, Fox Bay East and at the Town Hall, Stanley for the election of three Members to the Legislative Council for the Camp Constituency. Mobile polling teams will visit other areas in the Camp in the five business days ending on the 17th of November 2005 for the same purpose.
Candidates standing nominated for election in the Camp Constituency are as follows:
Roger Edwards of Lake Sulivan Farm, Fox Bay West: He was proposed by Ron Rozee and seconded by Leon Marsh. His supporters are Fiona Rozee, Paul Peck, Kenneth Halliday and Joyce Halliday.
Ian Hansen of Main Point Farm, West Falkland: He was proposed by William Reginald Pole-Evans and seconded by Peter Robertson. His supporters are Charlene Nightingale, Peter Nightingale, Ann Robertson and Diane Towersey.
Philip Miller of Cape Dolphin Farm, East Falkland: He was proposed by Robin Pitaluga and seconded by Jane Ellen Pitaluga. His supporters are Michael Minnell, Donna Minnell, Georgina Anderson Smith and Andrew Smith.
Mike Rendell of 8 Ross Road West, Stanley: He was proposed by Vernon Steen and seconded by Gail Steen. His supporters are Hew Grierson, Susan Smith, Michael David Jones and Sheila Jones.
Richard Stevens of Port Sussex Farm, East Falkland: He was proposed by Ailsa Heathman and seconded by Tony Heathman. His supporters are Hew Grearson, Michael David Jones, Sheila Jones and Terrance McPhee.
Now that candidates have put themselves forward for election on 17 November 2005, they have been invited to submit their manifestos to the Falkland Islands News Network for publication. Their manifestos can be as long as they wish and it can be submitted with a photo and/or political advertisement with it. However, submissions must be in digital format and not handwritten or faxed. This is done to protect candidates from any mistakes caused in typing or scanning the material.

FALKLAND ISLANDS NEWS NETWORK’S website at http://www.falklandnews.com. Voters overseas check these pages daily for news and information about the Falklands. No other news entities get news from this website in full. Google News takes the headlines. Readership mainly is Falkland Islanders overseas as well as interested people all over the Commonwealth.
SARTMA.COM’S website at http://www.sartma.com. Voters overseas check these pages but submissions are automatically put on Reuters and Dow Jones websites. Google News also takes the headlines from this site. Readership and service area is the South Atlantic Islands of Tristan da Cunha, St. Helena and Ascension Island as well as the Falkland Islands. Readership also includes interested people from the Commonwealth as well as the United States.
Further to submitting manifestos, FINN will conduct interviews via e-mail. A series of questions will be e-mailed and answers will be compiled and put into a report that will be placed on all outlets. Candidates can choose the questions they want to answer, however it is recommended that they make a stab at them because readers (voters) will want to make informed choices.
