A brief report from the Royal Falkland Islands Police and from the Court

 


POLICE NEWS:


 


At 2350 on Friday, 07 October 2005 a 999 call was received by the Royal Falkland Islands Police requiring urgent assistance from the Globe Tavern.  Officers arrived to find a number of people had been assaulted.  While dealing with the incident, one of the Police Officers was assaulted.  A person attended Court on Monday morning to answer two additional charges contrary to Section 18 – Assault and an additional charge of Assault on a Police Officer.


 


At 0020 on Saturday further assistance was requested at the Globe Tavern but when Officers arrived, the situation had resolved itself.


 


At 2310 on Saturday there was a report of a vehicle driving at speed and failing to stop at junctions.  The driver was stopped and given a verbal warning.


 


On Sunday at 1234 there was a report of a road traffic accident on the Stanley to Darwin Road in the vicinity of the Great Britain Hotel.  The matter is currently under investigation.


 


COURT NEWS:


 


The case against Barry O’Dean has been adjourned until Wednesday at 1000 after he pleaded guilty to Grievous Bodily Harm and Assault on a Police Officer.  The case was adjourned because medical evidence is awaited and further charges that might be brought against Mr. O’Dean.
