Ascension : Governor Opens First Bungalow On Links West

Last Friday 19th August, HE Governor Clancy officially opened the first completed bungalow of the four bungalows that represents the first phase of the Links West Housing Development.

 

Last Friday 19th August, HE Governor Clancy officially opened the first completed bungalow of the four bungalows that represents the first phase of the Links West Housing Development.

The opening was attended by the Administrator and Mrs Kettlewell, Island Councillors, a small number of selected guests and the Links West Team.

The Administrator welcomed all the guests and stated that he was pleased the Governor could attend this landmark event on the Island because it demonstrated the long-term commitment of the Island council to inward development. The Administrator thanked the following organisations that contributed to the development : The Council who provided the backing and support; V T Communications for the electrical and water infrastructure to the site; Cable and Wireless for the Telecoms infrastructure; Roy Drinkwater for the design and negotiations with Tilden’s the manufacturers; Technical Services for the site designs and the Works team led by Larry Francis that delivered the finished product.

HE the Governor commented on the progress and of the quality of work since his last visit and how impressed he was with the quality of the finishing off produced on site. He particularly complimented Larry Francis and the Works team on site plus all the other members of Works that have been involved with the development. He also congratulated the Island Council for backing such an innovative project that will eventually bring affordable housing to the Island.  

The ribbon was then cut and the house was open for viewing.

Members of the public are welcome to view the completed Bungalow. This completed bungalow is still within the boundary of the construction site and is therefore subject to Health and Safety regulations so visits are only available via a prior appointment.  Appointments should be made to Miss Shelley Magellan, Customer Services Officer on   Tel 6440 or email: shelley.magellan@ascension.gov.ac
