Ascension : Ascension Island Needs a Carpenter

ASCENSION ISLAND WORKS AND SERVICES AGENCY

The Agency requires a Carpenter to work in their Works & Services Department. The Agency provides a wide range of services to a number of organisations working on the Island. Its services include, New Works & Maintenance, Marine Services, Mechanical & Electrical Services, Public Works Services and Transport.

The Carpenter’s post is within the Maintenance and New Works Section and reports directly to the Section Leader but is responsible to the Operations Manager.

In addition to having the ability to undertake a wide range of carpentry duties, the successful applicant will also be required to carry out as a core function of this post, stevedore duties and will be required to work a 12-hour shift and at times, weekends when performing these duties. Overtime rates will apply for duties performed over and above the 40-hour week. In addition to this, you maybe required to perform such other tasks, which may reasonably be required of you.

It is essential that the applicant has a previous experience of carpentry work and has gained an appropriate qualification or competency certificate. A clean, valid driving licence from Classes A and above is also required.

The Job is Graded at Level 4 with a minimum and maximum salary band of £5,600 - £8,500 (before tax) per annum. The successful applicant’s salary will fall within this salary band and will depend on qualifications and experience.

The post is offered as a Single Status Contract for one year.
