KATRINA VICTIMS GET 200 KG AID FROM FALKLANDS

By J. Brock (FINN)

Royal Falkland Islands Police, the Fire and Rescue Service, and the Falkland Islands Defence Force have joined forces in order to send aid to peace keepers and rescue workers in the United States who are working in the Hurricane stricken Gulf Coast.  According to Sergeant Dave Roberts of the Royal Falkland Islands Police, an e-mail last Monday from his colleagues at DARE – USA started the ball rolling.

He approached the DHL Office at the Falkland Islands Chamber of Commerce on the day and got clearance to ship, free of charge, the 200 KG of uniform clothes as well as children’s clothes and some equipment for Emergency Services in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi.

The goods were packed and brought to the DHL Office on Friday and were shipped north on the Saturday Lan Flight.
