Ascension : BROWNIE CEREMONY
Submitted by The Islander (Gavin Yon) 28.07.2005 (Article Archived on 11.08.2005)

Last Wednesday evening was a special night for the 1st Ascension Brownie Guide Pack.

Last Wednesday evening was a special night for the 1st Ascension Brownie Guide Pack.  Ellen & Alexia made their promises at a Promise Ceremony, and a number of others, including Brown Owl and Snowy Owl, renewed theirs.  Mrs. Betty Joshua, our commissioner, was on hand to hear the promises and pass out shiny new pins.

After that, it was time for a Brownie campfire, led by Tawny Owl and Night Owl.  Lots of songs and sketches kept the mums and dads entertained.  The girls did a great job!

Just before the evening ended, interest badges were handed out.  Swimmer’s, Water Safety and Entertainer badges were awarded to some of the girls.  Everyone is looking forward to working on many more next year.

I’d like to thank my other Owls for all their help over the past year, especially during my leave!  Snowy Owl Hope, Night Owl Liz and Tawny Owl, Terri.  And to all the girls, it was a good year.  I hope everyone enjoys their vacations and we’ll see you all in September!!

With thanks,

Brown Owl
