St Helena : SHG Magazine
Submitted by Saint Helena Herald (Juanita Brock) 01.05.2003 (Article Archived on 15.05.2003)

The Office of the Chief Secretary (OCS) has published the first issue of SHG Magazine.

SHG Magazine

Earlier this week, the Office of the Chief Secretary (OCS) published the first issue of SHG, a 16-paged magazine which is available from various shops around the Island.

The OCS has been planning such a publication for some time now, in order to get further Government related information out to members of the public so that they can be kept up to date with what is happening in Government. The St Helena Government is in favour of keeping the public fully informed, a subject which has been raised in Legislative Council on several occasions.

Via the St Helena Herald and Radio News, the St Helena Government is able to get information out to the public on a regular basis, and despite publishing the magazine, Government will continue to communicate information to the public via the local media.

The magazine will be published four times each year and will be available free of charge.

Information comes from all thirteen departments, which means that articles will range from agriculture to improved access.

In addition to being available on Island it is hoped that people will also be able to download it from the Internet. This will be for the benefit of Saints overseas and all others who have an interest in the Island.
