FALKLANDS: ENGINE PROBLEMS DELAY AIRBRIDGE FLIGHT

Engine problems on a charter flight have delayed passengers who left the Falklands on Saturday, 02 July 2005.  At this writing, all of the passengers, including Gordon Forbes and his legal team, FIG Court lawyers, as well as the Judge in the Forbes Case, the Island Games team are on Ascension Island awaiting the arrival of a replacement flight from the UK.

The aircraft arrived on Ascension Island at approximately 2030 GMT on Saturday, 02 July and it was obvious from the ground that something was wrong with one of the engines.  Alarm was caused on the ground when, due to a Tri-star parked at the turn around, the Falklands plane did not turn around and for a while was stuck at the end of the runway.  Eventually the plane turned and proceeded to the apron, where it now is undergoing repairs and awaiting spare parts on the replacement plane sent from the UK.

Meanwhile, most of the passengers were housed at Travellers Rest, while others found their ways to the Obsidian Hotel on Ascension, to await transport for their flight, which is due to depart Ascension at 1400 GMT on 04 July.
