For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Stephen Ellick. I have worked on Ascension previously about 20 years ago for Pan Am fire security.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Stephen Ellick. I have worked on Ascension previously about 20 years ago for Pan Am fire security. This time I have brought my wife Winifred who is from county Cork in Ireland and my two children Chloe (aged 11) and Simon (aged 7). I am here on secondment from the St Helena Police
Force for a period of two years. Although I am a Saint I have spent 10 years in the UK in Falmouth. I have served in the British army at first in the 6th battalion Light infantry and then as a dog handler as part of NATO’s SFOR in Bosnia. I returned to St Helena in 2002 where I ran the oasis bar and later joined the St Helena fire service. My wife and I are keen on sailing, diving and walking. I was commodore of the St Helena yacht club just before we left and am interested in continuing with our hobbies here. I still maintain that sailing is the most fun you can have with your clothes on! And there are some good opportunities for anybody who is interested i.e. the governors cup, the commonwealth games etc. I am quite looking forward to working here and family are settling in fine, the children think that the beaches are great and enjoying every moment
