Falklands : Argentine Flights to the Falklands
Submitted by Falkland Islands News Network (Juanita Brock) 10.04.2003 (Article Archived on 24.04.2003)

An Official statement from Government House confirms a proposal for weekly Argentine flights.

"AEROLINEAS ARGENTINAS:  FLIGHTS TO THE FALKLAND ISLANDS

The British Embassy can confirm that the Department of Transport in London has received an application, dated 2 April, from the London office of Aerolineas Argentinas seeking permission to operate a once per week flight to the Islands.

There have been no negotiations between Aerolineas Argentinas and the British Government on this issue.

Air links between the Islands and the continent are covered by the Joint Statement of 14 July 1999 signed by the British and Argentine Governments.  Requests by any carrier to operate flights would be considered in the context of this Joint Statement."
