Governor Hollamby Will Attend the Governor's Conference in London in April.
GOVERNORS' CONFERENCE
Governor Hollamby will attend the Governors' Conference in London on 9 and 10 April (brought forward this year: last year Ministers were involved in the local Elections; the May Day demonstration caused problems with some of the administrative arrangements).
Resources including Good Government Funds as well as the new Global Opportunities Fund, constitutional reform and economic issues once again feature high on the agenda. The Governor also plans to hold discussions with the Head of the Overseas Territories Department on constitutional reform prior to his visit to St Helena accompanied by two Constitutional Lawyers which takes place at the end of April. The Governor will also meet the new Director of the Americas Command, the Command under which St Helena falls in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Governor Hollamby will also participate in the Media and Marketing Plan on the Air Prospectus.
Following the Conference, the Governor has been invited by Bob Russell MP to brief the St Helena All Party Group to up-date them on St Helena issues.
Governor Hollamby commented that "there is always as much work outside such Conferences as during them. Networking is important to keep Ministers, MPs and senior officials aware of St Helena and the issues the Island faces".
