Fourteen members of HM Forces based at Mount Pleasant have tabbed 100 miles in 21.5 hours, making £1200.00 on their way from Goose Green to Stanley.  The fortunate recipient of the money was the Cancer Support and Awareness Trust.

The organiser of the event, 2Lt Jo Smith from 2 Troop 34 Squadron said that Thursday night’s gale force winds made the going tough.  Start time was 1230 on Thursday and members of the Squadron, as well as some Royal Engineers and one from the Queen’s Lancashire Regiment arrived at the Liberation Monument in Stanley at 1100 on Friday.

There to meet them was Mrs. Theresa Lang, Chair of the Cancer Support and Awareness Trust and Mrs. Alison Ward, the organisation’s Secretary.  Tired marchers were ferried to St. Mary’s Hall for the presentation of the money by 2Lt. Jo. Smith.  Words of welcome and a brief history of the Trust, were said by Mrs. Theresa Lang.  Tea, coffee, cakes and sandwiches followed the speech and presentation.
