WOOL REPORT: for the week ending Friday 19th November 2004


 


Auctions


The Australian Eastern Market Indicator (EMI) moved five cents lower on Wednesday and then slipped nine cents on Thursday.  The EMI thus closed the week down 14 cents at 735 A cents.  On Thursday the Australian dollar was 3% stronger against the American dollar (at a nine month low) and 1.8% stronger against the euro compared to a week ago.


 


In New Zealand, the Fine Indicator was at 1,005 NZ cents and the Medium Indicator was up 11 cents on the fortnight at 501 NZ cents.  The Strong Indicator lost four cents to return to 390 NZ cents.  There was an 85% clearance of the offering of 14,662 bales.


 


The South African Overall Merino Indicator shed a minute 0.1% to move from 2,625 to 2,623 SA cents/kg clean.  There was a 95% clearance with much again going to Europe.


 


Currencies


The Australian dollar was trading six cents stronger against the pound at A$2.36/£. The New Zealand dollar was seven cents stronger on the week at 2.62 NZ cents/£.

6th December Port San Carlos staying at Moss Side;


7th December return to Stanley;


8th December in Stanley.
