The Australian Eastern Market Indicator (EMI) has drifted during the last fortnight.  The EMI ended three cents lower last week at 741 A cents.  On Tuesday of this week the EMI dropped six cents, on Wednesday it recovered three cents and recovered a similar amount on Thursday.  The EMI thus closed this week unchanged at 741 A cents.  Pass-ins exceeded 40% in Melbourne for some wool.

In New Zealand the Fine Indicator was quoted down 16 cents to 1,006 NZ cents on the fortnight.  The Medium Indicator was quoted up six cents on the week at 499 NZ cents.  The Strong Indicator was up three cents to 398 NZ cents whilst the Lamb Indicator was not quoted.  There was a 88% clearance.

The South African Overall Merino Indicator gained 1.3% on the week to 2,636 SA cents/kg clean.

In Britain the “offering was well sought after with a clearance of 93% of the 1.78 M kilo offering”.  The indicator was unchanged at 84 p/kg greasy.

Currencies

The Australian dollar was trading stronger at A$2.48/£. The New Zealand dollar was also stronger at 2.65 NZ cents/£.

FWG Agency

Good speciality enquiries were received this week.

All additional supplies of wool in 2005 would be much welcomed by our customers.

With Best Wishes

Robert
