Ascension : IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE. - THE TUNNEL – GREEN MOUNTAIN.
Submitted by The Islander (Nathan Prince) 09.09.2004 (Article Archived on 23.09.2004)

Please note that due to recent inclement weather a land slip has occurred to the Eastern end of the Green Mountain tunnel.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE.

THE TUNNEL – GREEN MOUNTAIN.

Please note that due to recent inclement weather a land slip has occurred to the Eastern end of the Green Mountain tunnel.

This has caused the tunnel exit to be partially blocked with loose stone and soil.

The public are therefore advised that for safety reasons the use of the tunnel is not permitted until the debris has been removed, and the area inspected and repaired to prevent any further landslip.

The entrance to the Tunnel is clearly marked with restrictive tape to prevent access.

THIS AREA IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC ARE NOT TO USE THE TUNNEL UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Thank you.

Phil Thomas

Head of Operations

Ascension Island Government.
