S.Atlantic : Air Luxor L1011-500 To Be Used for Airbridge for a Fortnight

The RAF Tristar will be replaced for two weeks by and Air Luxor Tristar. Civilians also will not be excluded from Airbridge Flights for the foreseeable future.
AIR LUXOR L1011-500 TRISTAR TO CONTINUE AIRBRIDGE FOR A FORTNIGHT

Portuguese airline, Air Luxor, will be continuing the airbridge for two weeks while RAF Tristars are deployed to the Gulf in the run-up to any potential conflict with Iraq. This ends press speculation that the service would be cut off. It is confirmed that Air Luxor will be using the same airframe, a Lockheed L1011-500, more commonly called a Tristar, that is used by the RAF for the route.
Air Luxor participation, in the first instance, will be for a fortnight from 18 February to 03 March 2003.
Further to this, there had been a news story in the St. Helena Herald about the curtailment of civilian passengers, from end March 2003, on the RAF Airbridge and this was due to European regulations about the safety of civilians on Military flights. However, during a press brief held on Saturday, 25 January 2003 at Government House, H. E. the Governor Mr. Howard Pearce refuted the accusation, saying that use of the Airbridge for civilians was secure for the foreseeable future.
