Cable & Wireless Communications Plc has responded to press speculation by confirming that it is in discussions with CITIC Telecom International Holdings Limited ("CITIC") regarding a potential sale of its 51% shareholding in Companhia de Telecomunicações de Macau S.A.R.L. ("CTM") in Macau. CITIC is a 20% shareholder in CTM.

Cable & Wireless Communications Plc has responded to press speculation by confirming that it is in discussions with CITIC Telecom International Holdings Limited ("CITIC") regarding a potential sale of its 51% shareholding in Companhia de Telecomunicações de Macau S.A.R.L. ("CTM") in Macau. CITIC is a 20% shareholder in CTM.
In addition the Company says that at this point there can be no certainty that the discussions will lead to a transaction. Previously it had been reported that the business units in the South Atlantic Islands were also being discussed.
