DANCING DAVE'S AEROBICS RAISES £800 FOR MOLLY

Service personnel at MPA dressed up in all sorts of costumes to take part in a charity aerobics session recently in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, raising an impressive £800.

Almost in step

There was a grand turnout from across the base for the session, led by instructor  'Dancing Dave' dressed as a rather dodgy-looking builder.  His class were, perhaps, a little uncoordinated at times, however the energy, enthusiasm and laughter made it a particularly memorable and amusing session.  The event was organised by Flight Lieutenant Rachel Murphy and Senior Aircraftsman Chris Lumb whose niece, Molly, was diagnosed as suffering from Cystic Fibrosis when she was just six months old.

The condition affects the respiratory system and Molly's family have already raised over £2000 by organising a sponsored 150 mile bike ride which became known as 'Peddling for Molly'.  Molly is now a happy, fun-filled and much-loved two year old who has to endure physiotherapy twice a day to remove mucus from her lungs and her life expectancy at this stage is only about 30 years. All money raised for her is donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.  Scientists believe they are on the verge of finding a cure so it is hoped that with the help of events such as the aerobics session, Molly, and others like her, will soon have the chance to lead a normal life.

Organisor Chris Lumb said:  "I was delighted at the huge response and success of 'Aerobics For Molly'.  The £800 raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust will help tremendously my niece Molly, and others like her.  The event itself was a huge success and great fun for everyone involved. All the aerobic first-timers, including myself, didn't have much co-ordination which made it all very funny."
