INCREASE IN TRADEMARKS AND PATENTS FEES
An increase in Trade Marks and Patents fees was agreed by Executive Council during their meeting of 2 October 2012.
This decision will see a 50% increase on all Trade Mark transactions with an increase of 100% on certifying copies or extracts of any documents filed.
The changes will mean an increase in revenue but should not have an impact on the local community - the increase in fees is targeted at overseas businesses that are able to apply for their Trade Marks to be registered in St Helena.
On average 30 to 50 applications are received each year from large international companies and it is expected that this increase in revenue will assist in full cost recovery from Trade Mark/Patent proprietors seeking a service from St Helena Government.
The increase in fees will also bring St Helena more into line with other Overseas Territories offering the same type services.
