David Jenkins, currently Director of Health and Education for the Falkland Islands Government has been appointed to the post of Director of Health and Social Services.  He will take up his new role with effect from January 2013 following a restructure which will see Education form a separate Directorate.

In making the announcement, Keith Padgett, Chief Executive said that he was delighted to announce the appointment of David Jenkins to the post of Director of Health and Social Services.  David has gathered a wealth of experience with the Falkland Islands Government over the past few years, which will stand him in good stead in continuing to lead the Health Service.

“I am happy that this appointment provides some much needed continuity to the Health service and I look forward to continuing to work with the health team, whose consistent hard work is such an asset to the Islands and whose continuing support will be vital to take the Health Service forward.” Said Mr Jenkins.

He went on to say that managing Health is a complex and demanding role that involves balancing sometimes competing objectives.  He sees the key task as continuing to increase efficiency and effectiveness in the health and social services, and I am confident that, given time, that further improvements can be made.

Mr Jenkins ended his statement by saying that he is especially keen to continue to develop systems, policies and procedures that will stand the test of time and will best position the FI Health service for the difficult challenges that lie ahead.
