SUCCESSFUL STAFF DEVELOPMENT MORNING

(Updated)

Yesterday over 130 staff attended a Staff Development morning held by the Education and Employment Directorate.

The morning was opened by Councillor Rodney Buckley, Chairman of the Education and Employment Committee, who thanked staff for their contributions to the service over the past year and congratulated all staff for their work towards achieving an improved set of public examination results.

A wide range of topics were covered during the morning in areas relating to raising the strategic aim of ambition and attainment across all aspects of education and employment.

Director of Education and Employment, Colin Moore also presented photographic evidence of the current condition of Primary School buildings, a topic which will be a subject of consultation during October/November of this year.

Attendees also saw inputs from Mr Michael Theobalds, Primary Raising Attainment Partner, Mrs Wendy Benjamin, Education Officer Training, Mrs Kerry Yon, AVES Manager, and Mrs Kirsty Joshua from Enterprise St Helena.

Other talks were given by Miss Pamela Lawrence, Distance Learning Coordinator, regarding Scholarships, Mrs Tammy Williams and Mr Anselmo Pelembe, regarding Traditional Industries, and Miss Lucy Caesar, Curator of the Museum, and Mrs Helen Wallis, English Advisory Teacher at Prince Andrew School, regarding a speaking and listening project, “What We Did When...”, which will be taking place within the Primary Schools this term.
