DEADLINE TOMMORROW FOR ADDING YOU NAME TO THE REGISTER OF ELECTORS
The last date for submitting applications to have your name placed on the Register of Electors, and in time for the upcoming By-Election in the East Constituency is tomorrow, Friday 31 August 2012.
Applications received after this date will be kept on hold and will not be processed until after the By-Election.
Applicants must have St Helenian status or be the spouse or life partner of someone who has such status, should be 18 years of age or older, and should be ordinarily resident in St Helena and living in the constituency they are registering under. If someone is away from the Island for a continuous period of 30 months or for periods exceeding in aggregate 625 days over a 30 month period, they will not be able to register.
Constituents in the Longwood, Levelwood, Alarm Forest and Jamestown electoral areas should therefore check to see if their names are on the Register of Electors published on 1 July 2012.
Copies of the Register of Electors are held by the Assistant Registration Officers and can also be viewed on the SHG website, in the Public Library and the Customer Services Centre, as well as in various Community Centres and shops around the Island.
Remember if your name is not on the Register, then you will not be able to participate in the By-Election.
Further information can be obtained from Gillian Francis, Registration Officer, at the Castle.
