HEALTH AND EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO SPLIT

A Report for FITV by Paula Fawmes

The Health and Education Department is to split into two separate Departments.  Chief Executive, Keith Padgett (KP), spoke to FITV about this decision.

KP:  The reason for considering the split for the Health and Education Department is because it’s actually a very big department.  It employs currently around 200 people which is about 1/3rd of the entire government work force.  These are both very bog-very important services and we felt that both Departments needed to have an appropriate amount of senior management input, which has not really been possible at least with one director.

In terms of when this is likely to happen, we are currently embarking on a recruitment campaign in the UK and locally.  We are looking for applicants for both posts.  And it will really depend on when we get those applicants and we can get this settled as to when this actually happens.
