The Sea Cadets presented a Cheque for £435.00p to the Seaman’s Mission on Wednesday the 6th July. The amount being half of the proceeds raised from this year’s Midwinter Swim. The other half of the proceeds going into Sea Cadet funds.
CPO(SCC) John Clifford (the organiser) said that due to the swim being postponed by a day, it did have an adverse effect on numbers participating, but unfortunately the weather is beyond our control, in the end there were 135 brave lunatics that qualified for the Governors Certificate.
The Sea Cadets would like to thank the many people who helped out, the Staff on the day, Seaman’s Mission, Stanley Growers, Police and Ambulance, FIDF, Staff from the Command Secretariat, BFBS, FIRS, PN & FINN, the MPC Thrift Shop and Saddle Direct, HE the Governor for the Certificates, Warrah design for the Tee-Shirts, the Spectators & Supporters and most importantly those brave participants.
Certificates and clothing (for those that ordered) can now be collected from the MPC Thrift Shop for MPC Participants and Saddle Direct in Stanley for all other participants.
The next Sea Cadet Fun event will be the Annual New Year’s Day Raft Race, and next year’s Midwinter Swim will be on the 23rd or 24th June (weather depending). See you then.
