James Glass, Tristan’s Director of Fisheries was invited to attend the Fish & Marine Africa 2010 exhibition held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.  The conference took place between the 16th -18thMarch 2010 and was partly organised by Southern Africa’s Programme Manger Martin Purves.  By coincidence James had worked with Martin as a Sea Fishery Observer about 19 years ago on a long-line the Aquatic Pioneer operated by Canadian Officers and Argentine crew.

Martin operated a stall there giving out information on the functions/ benefits of having the MSC logo on fishery products.  An Assessment team in Cape Town will be holding stakeholders meetings between 6-9th April 2010 at the Victoria Junction Hotel.  While in Cape Town the team will assess the Tristan Fishery.

Articles have appeared in the Fishing News International, Fishing Industry News (Cape Town) and other papers stating that it has entered full assessment.
