Bloomberg reports that Argentina has blocked a ship from leaving a Techint Group plant after it traveled to the Falkland Islands without government permission, the Argentine Foreign Office said.
M/V Thor Leader, a Danish Ship registered in Douglas, Isle of Man, is docked in Techint’s Campana plant carrying a cargo of seamless pipes, the Argentine government office said yesterday in a statement. Techint, in a separate statement last night, confirmed that the ship is docked at the plant.
The Thor Leader was blocked from departing because Argentine law requires vessels visiting the Falklands to ask for permission from Argentine maritime authorities first, the Foreign Ministry said.
Locally, a spokesman from Government House said he was aware of the incident but awaiting clarification about the situation.
