Falklands : EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT POST UNCERTAIN

EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT POST UNCERTAIN

A Report for FIRS by Layla Crowie 12/01/10

The post of Head of Executive Management for the Falkland Islands Government will now not be filled and may be reconsidered by Assembly Members.  The new position was advertised late in 2009, with Leisure Centre Manager, Steve Dent being appointed to the post.  However, FIG Chief Executive, Tim Thorogood says that the position is that Steve Dent is now not taking up that appointment for reasons which are specifically his.  And, as with all such staffing matters, are confidential.

Mr Dent will remain as Leisure Centre Manager.  Mr Thorogood says that he is not rushing to fill the vacancy as it is likely Members of Legislative Assembly will want to consider the post and whether to amend or delete it in the light of their priorities and financial position.  Any decision on that has not yet been taken.  Mr Dent did not wish to comment on the matter.
