A glossy supplement in the Times focuses on the modern Falklands.

FOCUS ON THE MODERN FALKLANDS

By J. Brock (FINN)

A glossy supplement placed in the Times presents the Falklands in a modern light, with interviews depicting successful Islanders who have returned from overseas to become successful contributors to the Islands community.  Sponsored by Cable & Wireless, the supplement features relevant statistics and a map as well as articles written by David Watts and Alan Hamilton about the vibrant lifestyle and potential leaders.  Interviews with Cllr. Mike Summers and Dr. Becky Edwards show how diverse aspirations and goals help to make the Falklands the modern society it is today.

Along with the supplement a 10-minute DVD showed how developments in the Falklands have not only helped to make life easier for Islanders but also how the growth was achieved since the 1982 Conflict with Argentina.  Featuring Cllr Andrea Clausen, the DVD shows the road system, growth of Stanley, the tourism industry and other developments that have made the Falklands what they are today – a truly modern society.
