POLICE REPORT 999 CALLS FOR ASSISTANCE
By J. Brock (FINN)
The Royal Falkland Islands have received a variety of 999 calls for assistance from the public. Over the weekend of 11 to 14 August 2006 five calls for assistance were received via the 999 system.
Even though key pads on mobile phones are locked, people can dial 999 for assistance. However, this means that accidental 999 calls can also be made. The Royal Falkland Islands Police would like to remind members of the public to ensure that keypads are somehow protected when the mobile phone is stowed to prevent accidental 999 calls from being made. When they call back, members of the public are asked to help the Royal Falkland Islands Police by answering the phone and letting them know that nothing is wrong.
