Lord Triesman of Tottenham, 62, has taken over from the Hon Bill Rammell as Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office with responsibility for the British Overseas Territories.

He is a former General Secretary of the Labour Party and prior to his appointment was a Whip/Spokesman at the House of Lords in the areas of DFID, DTI, and Education, to name a few.  It was with his Education hat on that he launched the North West Global Education Network on 09 February this year, focusing on ethnic groups. 

Lord Triesman was raised in North London’s Jewish Community.  Though not a practicing Jew, he has been targeted by  “Combat 18” for the past 14 months.  His home has been spray-painted with racist graffiti.
