Falklands : ALL SET FOR THE 2012 FALKLAND CRAFT FAIR

The Falkland Craft Fair will be held in the Falkland Islands Community School on Saturday, 08 and Sunday, 09 September 2012.

The Falkland Craft Fair will be held in the Falkland Islands Community School on Saturday, 08 and Sunday, 09 September 2012.


 


Fifteen classes of art and craft will be on display during the show and they are:


 


Class A - Homespun Wool, Sponsored by Kelper Stores Limited


 


Class B - Felting, Sponsored by Kelper Stores Limited


 


Class C - Knitting, Sponsored by Falkland Farmers Limited


 


Class D - Weaving, Rug-making and Basketwork, Sponsored by Mrs Marj Adams


 


Class E - Sewing and Crochet, Sponsored by Seafish Chandlary Limited


 


Class F -  Embroidery, Tapestry and Cross Stitch, Sponsored by Sew What


 


Class G - Soft Toy Making, Sponsored by the Falkland Islands Company Limited,


 


Class H - Horn-work, Gear-Making, Leatherwork and Skins, Sponsored by Fortuna Limited


 


Class I – Woodwork and Metal Work, Sponsored by Fortuna Limited


 


Class J - Pottery, Jewellery and Sculpture, Sponsored by the Falkland Islands Company Limited


 


Class K - Model-making, Sponsored by Lifestyles

Class O - Items for Display Only


 


Items in the show must be crafted in the Falklands or South Georgia and photographs must be taken in the Falkland Islands, South Georgia or British Antarctic Territory.  Items should not have been in the competition at the show before except in Section “O” for display only. 


 


Prizes include:


 


The Cable & Wireless South Atlantic Limited Challenge Cup and Miniature for the adult with the most overall points, the Falkland Islands Development Corporation Challenge Cup and Miniature for the Adult runner up, the Falkland Islands Company Limited Challenge Cup and Medallion for the child with the most points overall, the Falkland Islands Company Limited Challenge Cup and Medallion for the Children’s runner up, the Standard Chartered Rose Bowl and Miniature for the person with the most points in Sections A, B, C, and D, the George Porter Challenge Cup for the person with the most points in Sections H and I, the Marj McPhee Memorial Prize, Sponsored by the Spinners, Weavers and Handicrafts Guild for the novice textile craftsperson whose work in Sections A to G most impresses the Guild’s Judges.  Gift vouchers or cash will be awarded to the person with the most points in each section.


 


Children’s Classes only  are  £5.00 for 1st, £3.00 for 2nd and £2.00 for 3rd place.


 


Doors will open between 1400 and 1700hrs on Saturday, 08 September and 1400hrs and 1630 on Sunday, 09 September with the prize giving and raffle beginning at 1630hrs.  Entries can be taken to the Community School between 1530 and 1800hrs on Friday, 07 September.


 


Leaflets about the craft fair are available in the Post Office.
